Nearly 40 attend public hearing on regs

Nearly 40 people -- including small-business owners, lawyers, and tax officials -- attended a public hearing yesterday on proposed tax regulations.

The hearing, at the Powers Building at One Capitol Hill, Providence, was held by the Tax Division, which is in the process of implementing a number of tax-law changes enacted earlier this year.

Most of the testimony at the hearing focused on the expansion of the sales tax to certain pet care, taxi, limousine, and charter bus services, effective October 1, 2012.
