Governor extends Executive Order

Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo recently extended an Executive Order involving unemployment insurance matters (including relief for employers related to unemployment insurance tax charges). This Executive Order will remain in full force and effect until February 25, 2021, unless renewed, modified, or terminated by subsequent Executive Orders. For more information, click here.

Employer reporting for health insurance mandate

The Rhode Island Division of Taxation’s portal is now accepting electronic filings by employers and their representatives (such as health insurance carriers) regarding Rhode Island’s health insurance mandate (also known as the health coverage mandate or individual mandate). Click here.

Executive Order extension

Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo has extended Executive Order 20-02, declaring a state of emergency due to the dangers to health and life posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 

This Executive Order will remain in full force and effect until February 17, 2021, unless renewed, modified, or terminated by subsequent Executive Orders. For more information, click here.

Withholding-tax guidance - emergency regulation extended

The Rhode Island Division of Taxation has extended an emergency regulation that provides withholding-tax guidance for employers that have employees who are temporarily working remotely due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Executive Order extension

Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo has extended an Executive Order involving the “Rhode Island Qualified Jobs Incentive Act of 2015” program, under Rhode Island General Laws Chapter 44-48.3. The extended Executive Order will remain in effect until February 11, 2021 (unless renewed, modified or terminated by subsequent Executive Order).
